Bir Pletok at Betawi Store Is Crowded By Tourist

The souvenir and culinary center at Betawi Store, Lenggang Jakarta Monas area, Central Jakarta is crowded. As we know, Beer pletok (a traditional Betawi beverage with herbs and spices) becomes the most widely bought by tourists.

One of the employees at Betawi Store, Aria said, for small-bottled pletok beer is sold at Rp 10,000, medium bottle at Rp 20,000 and big bottle at Rp 25,000.

"We also have the bir pletok in the form of sachets. Each five sachet is sold at Rp 25,000," he stated, Friday (6/30).

Besides bir pletok, he also sells the old toys of Betawi. They are like gangsing, mini-bamboo inflatable tools that produce bird-like sounds, key chains, and recycled souvenirs.

"From last Sunday until now, our income per day is approximately Rp 2.5-3 million. On regular day, we get Rp 200,000 per day and Rp 2 million every weekend," he told.

Wahyu (35), a Jelambar resident, West Jakarta expressed, Betawi Store is very helpful for tourists who want to find Betawi souvenirs.

"I buy key chains, kembang goyang (flower-shaped cookies) and Betawi traditional toys for my children and nephew here," he admitted.
